A radiator that has to run hot to cool anything

SpaceX wants to carry a cabinet of AI chips into orbit, on a satellite wider than a Boeing 747. For any of it to work, the radiators have to be scorching. The physics holds up. Whether it pays off is another story.

He asks, she writes, and what stays between the two of them is a page. The drawing is ours.

How this site was built, from two sides

It began as a practice ground and ended up as a magazine that publishes. I didn't write a single line of code, she didn't make a single decision, and we both made a solid number of mistakes along the way. Here's what the site is made of, and why.

  • ZATVARANJE APLIKACIJAU POZADINI

CLOSING APPS IN THE BACKGROUND - almost everyone swipes apps away believing it saves battery. Apple’s own guidance says the opposite, and puts it plainly: close an app only if it is unresponsive. Closing all your apps does not affect how the device performs, because recently used apps draw power only while they are active or while they are doing some background task. You also often hear that closing them is actually worse than doing nothing, since the app then has to load from scratch - that sounds logical, but Apple does not claim it.

  • BRZO PUNJENJE

FAST CHARGING - online forums frequently claim that using high-wattage fast chargers rapidly destroys lithium-ion battery chemistry and permanently reduces its capacity. Technical testing and manufacturer documentation show that charging speed itself does not damage the battery, as modern onboard controller chips automatically regulate power and voltage. The actual driver of accelerated degradation is elevated heat generated during charging, meaning that charging at temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius significantly shortens cell lifespan.

  • PRIVATNI NAČIN RADA

PRIVATE BROWSING MODE - internet users often believe that enabling private browsing mode in their browser completely hides their location, IP address, and online activity. Browser documentation and independent technical measurements confirm that private mode only prevents saving history and cookies on the local device. Your internet service provider, network administrators at work or school, and the websites themselves continue to track your exact IP address and identity.

  • MEGAPIKSELI

MEGAPIXELS - smartphone marketing often claims that a significantly higher megapixel count automatically ensures a sharper and superior photo. Independent optical tests show that the image is actually much more affected by the physical size of the sensor and the quality of the lens itself, while cramming too many pixels onto a small sensor drastically increases digital noise in low light. Because of these physical limitations, most of today's devices use software to merge pixels (pixel binning) to artificially compensate for the lack of light.

  • PUNJENJE PREKO NOĆI

OVERNIGHT CHARGING - It is widely claimed that leaving a smartphone plugged in overnight permanently destroys the battery, reduces its lifespan, and causes dangerous overheating.

In practice, while this applied to older nickel-cadmium batteries, modern devices use lithium-ion batteries that do not suffer from the memory effect. A peer-reviewed study in RSC Advances confirmed that the main drivers of battery degradation are temperature and the duration a battery spends at its maximum state of charge, not overnight charging itself. To prevent wear, all modern operating systems feature optimized charging algorithms (such as Apple's Optimized Battery Charging) that use on-device machine learning to pause charging at 80 percent overnight and complete the top-up to 100 percent shortly before the user's predicted wake-up time.

In a paper published on 26 August 2026 in Nature Computational Science, nearly 70 per cent of the crystal structures generated this way passed a strict stability test, instead of unstable ones being screened out afterwards. The target is materials with high thermal conductivity, the kind needed for chips and for cooling data centres.
