  • DUNE 3

DUNE 3 - Cinestar announces the start of screenings for 17 December 2026 and says: „The finale of the trilogy brings a stronger, faster and visually more impressive spectacle. The story takes place 17 years after the previous chapter and throws us straight into the fateful rise of Paul Atreides - a man who is no longer just an heir, but the architect of his own, almost godlike destiny. An ancient plan grows into an obsession, and the road to ruler-superman becomes ruthless, brutal and inevitable. This is a story that pulses with darkness and tension - sharper, harsher and more dangerous than ever before. Pure spectacle leaning more towards a thriller, where every decision cuts deep and every betrayal echoes like an explosion. The finale of the trilogy - grandiose, epic and uncompromising, promises a larger scale, fiercer intensity and an explosion of events that changes everything we thought we knew. The new chapter of the saga doesn't just continue the story - it raises it to the level of myth.“

Director of Unrest

TV-philes spend the summer waiting for September and the new schedules of the national channels, the announcements of new (old) shows and series, and until then, now that most of us have the most time, on holiday - brother, mow through the repeats, and watch what you have already watched.

THE DAMNED - 11 July 2026 / Ljubljana / Kino Šiška

This was no mere nostalgia trip, nor did the band just professionally clock in and out - it was a pleasure in songs that marked some people's youth, and are only now marking somebody else's.

  • SIGURNO UKLANJANJE
SAFELY REMOVING USB - for decades we have been taught never to pull out a USB stick before clicking „Safely Remove Hardware“. more...

According to Microsoft's documentation, since Windows 10 version 1809 the default policy is „Quick removal“, under which Windows does not cache disk writes, so the device can be removed without that step, at the cost of somewhat slower performance. Anyone who has switched to the „Better performance“ policy still has to use safe removal, or risks losing data.

THE GREAT WALL FROM SPACE - it is said that the Great Wall of China is the only man-made structure visible from space. more...

NASA writes that from low Earth orbit it is very hard to make out with the naked eye, because its colour and texture are almost the same as the ground around it: Chinese astronaut Yang Liwei did not see it, and the first confirmed photographs were taken by Leroy Chiao in 2004 with a 180 millimetre lens. From the Moon no man-made structure is visible at all, while cities at night, highways, airports and dams are easy to see from orbit.

  • NASA
NASA - at the end of September 2026 the agency selected three new science payloads for its Moon base programme, to be carried to the surface by commercial landers of the CLPS programme. more...

One will monitor micrometeoroids, volatiles and moonquakes near the south pole, another will look for underground tunnels carved by flowing lava in the Marius Hills pit, and the third will measure ice hidden in small cold traps. The release gives neither contract values nor delivery dates.

One flash in a mine: have we finally caught dark matter?

A detector deep underground recorded a single flash that might be dark matter, and physicists rushed to explain it. The most interesting explanation got its first test within a week, and part of the answer came from the ice at the South Pole.

  • PUCKETANJE PRSTIMA
CRACKING KNUCKLES - parents warn that cracking your knuckles leads to arthritis. more...

A 2011 study by Kevin deWeber and colleagues, published in the Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine, covered 215 people aged 50 to 89 with hand X-rays: osteoarthritis was about as common among those who crack their knuckles (18.1 percent) as among those who do not (21.5 percent). The study is retrospective and cannot prove cause, but it found no link with hand osteoarthritis.

CUTTING DOWN ON CAFFEINE - a randomised clinical trial on 109 adults, published in Drug and Alcohol Dependence, confirmed that guided, gradual reduction significantly alleviates adverse symptoms such as anxiety and sleep disturbances. more...

Participants who used a six-week reduction manual decreased their average daily caffeine intake from 565 to 233 milligrams. Measurements recorded statistically significant drops in side effects and improvements in sleep quality without requiring direct clinical supervision.

Why fat moves to the middle after fifty, and what actually shifts it

After fifty the body does not so much gain more fat as store it somewhere else, and the scale does not notice. We went through the large trials and kept only what somebody actually measured: what removes visceral fat, what only looks as if it does, and how much muscle really burns at rest.

  • PAŽNJA ZLATNE RIBICE
A GOLDFISH ATTENTION SPAN - you often hear that the human attention span has fallen from 12 seconds in 2000 to eight, less than a goldfish's nine. more...

In 2017 the BBC programme More or Less traced the figure to a 2015 report by Microsoft Canada, which had simply taken it from a website called Statistic Brain. The sources that website lists found no record of any such research, and psychologist Gemma Briggs of the Open University says an „average attention span“ depends on the task and is not measured that way. The goldfish is not to blame either: for decades scientists have used goldfish precisely to study learning and memory, because they do both learn and remember.

LIGHTNING NEVER STRIKES TWICE - it is said that lightning never strikes the same place twice. more...

The US National Weather Service says the opposite: lightning often strikes the same place repeatedly, especially tall, pointed and isolated objects, and the Empire State Building is hit an average of 23 times a year. The same service also knocks down two pieces of hiking lore: crouching in the open does not protect you, and being under a tree is the second leading cause of lightning casualties.
