AMYL & THE SNIFFERS, Zagreb, Šalata, 8 August 2026.

What fun, walking up the restored Šloser steps to Šalata (which, seemingly, is not quite up to standard). Met a mate beforehand, got there for the last song of the support act HEY DARLING (sounded solid).

Sadly, Šalata was not (for once) sold out, even though the band is at the peak of its powers and popularity, but never mind, this „Australian pub punk rock’n’roll foursome“ will be back. There were hints they would come to INmusic 2025 (but they were in Vienna at the same time); one of the next ones would be great, once they get even bigger.

Singer, shouter… Amy Taylor is a bouncy ball, Debbie Harry for this (new) age, the energy she has is unbelievable, „transvision vamp“?

At the start I was with company somewhere halfway back in the „stalls“, but after a few songs it felt too far away, so I pushed through to the first few rows, which was an excellent decision (not for my legs though, calves especially, days of recovery). The best thing for me was that the temperature was lower, the day before had brought some relief, so it was not cavepulahell…

I had a good dance, a good jump around, and the best description of the gig comes from my brother Nino, in the two songs he filmed (Hertz, Some Mutts). In my not-so-humble opinion - one of the gigs of the year!
